NEWS:: The frost is slaps me in the face every morning now and I walk by the gardens all nestled down for the winter and stare at the brussel sprout stalks just laughing at the first snowflakes. The new girl on the block, a puppy named Pepper is certainly starting to earn her keep by herding the goats back in their field and protecting her new feathered friends at night. The weasel has been kept at bay for the most part and everything has been quietly slipping in to the darkness of winter.

On a happy note, the fall was perfect for weddings at the park and we enjoyed beautiful weather well into the end of September. We put space heaters under picnic tables in the barn for a gorgeous small gathering in the barn while the weekend before was sunny and 70 degrees for a huge gathering of friends and family for a green wedding in our pavilion. Next year, we're opening up the park for other environmentally friendly wedding receptions and we're excitedly looking forward to putting events on the calander for next year in order to spice up Massillon Ohio just a bit.

Keep your calanders open for our seeds swap in spring and check out our CSA for fresh, local veggies the whole growing season next year. .

Follow the crazy ideas here at High Mill Park, from problem to solution... and whether or not it worked out for us. We'll walk through how we're tackeling difficult situations like insulating a wall with less harmful materials than fiber glass (we tried rice hulls as a sustainable alternative) to filling an old swimming pool with malaysian freshwater prawns to our greenhouse construction using recycled materials and possibly some cordwood construction. We're looking into everything from compost heaters for the home to growing our own mushrooms through innoculating logs around the park.
If you have any words of advice, warning, or would like to lend a hand or help with supplies, feel free to email janeehouston@gmail.com as all help is greatly appreciated.
